Architecture and urban planning have always reflected not merely the aesthetic taste, but the social relationships, ideas, values, and lifestyles of the people who created and used the buildings and spaces. ARCHINOS’ design strives to make these values visible and articulated in a location that is historically important for Cairo’s identity.
Our design proposes to restore the original appearance of the Sednaoui Departments Store, rehabilitate the surrounding historic buildings and present creative and innovative solutions in the contemporary intervention.
By matching careful conservation and rehabilitation of historic architecture and urban setting with modern design and technology where appropriate, our design aims to demonstrate how cultural heritage is a valid part of present-day life.
