Having Good Time Together While Doing Serious Work in Alexandria

3 October 2010

On 30 September 2010, at the ceremony concluding a two-week long artistic workshop at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Alexandria University, Mahmoud al-Tawwat was awarded the first prize for a portrait in which he masterfully captured the spirit of the Mediterranean way of life. Other outstanding works were awarded other prizes. The event, however, was not about who comes first. It was about exchanging experiences and ideas in a collaborative creative effort of art students from Alexandria, Istanbul and Venice. This cross-inspiration resulted in works of arts in widely various media and reflecting a broad range of subjects and issues. All this is part of The Liquid Continent project carried out by ARCHiNOS, with our team member Fatma Farouk essential for the success of the workshop. The project is financed by the Delegation of the European Union to Egypt with additional support from Mercedes-Benz and Alexandria National Automotive Co.
