ARCHiNOS Honours a Great Man
30 April 2014
Werner Mark Linz was an outstanding German-born publisher in the US and Egypt, who turned the American University in Cairo Press into the leading English-language publishing house in the Middle East. Before his death in 2013 he inaugurated the Library of Thought, a monumental series of 100 books intended to build bridges between Western and Eastern worlds. The first volume in the series published by the Gingko Library: East-West Divan: In Memory of Werner Mark Linz was launched in April 2014 in New York, London, and Cairo. The Cairo event took place at ARCHiNOS Architecture headquarters. We commemorated not only the publisher of our books, but a dear friend who enriched our lives in many important ways.
