9 July 2015
In the month of Ramadan, soon after the conquest of Egypt by the Fatimid dynasty in year 969, the caliph al-Mu’izz li-Din Allah entered Cairo. For the night-time ingress of the ruler to his new capital, the city was illuminated with thousands of bright lanterns. Ever since, the colourful Ramadan lanterns are ubiquitous in Cairo throughout the Muslim holy month. On Wednesday, 7 Ramadan 1436 A.H. / 24 June 2015 A.D., one was lit at ARCHiNOS Architecture headquarters in Heliopolis when personnel and friends of ARCHiNOS from every possible walk of life gathered for the fast-breaking sunset meal.
Ramadan Karim to all our friends, Muslim and not.
