More Artists Pay a Visit to the Sultan
12 February 2016
The cosy small square overlooked by the monumental façade of Sultan Qaitbey’s reception hall in Cairo’s “City of the Dead” is becoming an outdoors art display. As the facades around the square are renovated by ARCHiNOS to be a fitting setting for the Sultan’s building adapted to be a hub of art and culture in the neighbourhood, artists decorate it with their works. On 21 February 2016, residents and guests celebrated the completion of a sculptural work in brick and stone by the Hungarian artist Beata Rostas, brought to ARCHiNOS’ project in Cairo by the Hungarian Embassy and the Balassi Cultural Institute. The joyful event featured a performance by the Egyptian singer Gihad Amin, who was joined on stage by multi-talented Beata. Here is some of the coverage available on-line:
Mark your calendars to pay a visit to the Sultan too: on the 18 March another Sultan’s fair will unfold in the “City of the Dead”, just before the Mother’s Day is celebrated in Egypt. Our Facebook page will provide details.
