ARCHiNOS Upholds the Sultan's Glory

27 January 2018

On 1 February 2018, ARCHiNOS began a new project in the Sultan Qaitbey area in the “City of the Dead” in Cairo with funding granted primarily by the European Union. We will work on a number of buildings within the Sultan’s mediaeval complex, with the objective of preserving these pieces of heritage long-term by making the buildings and spaces that we conserve useful and beneficial for the local community and by opening them to the wider public.

The work includes the mausoleum of Gulshani, which adjoins the maq‘ad of Sultan Qaitbey that ARCHiNOS recently conserved, and that now is used as a place of the arts and culture in the neighbourhood. We will keep you updated on our website about this fascinating new adventure that we are embarking on.
