Women's Day Celebration:

Concert by Do'souka and Exhibition by the Austrian Cultural Forum

8 March 2019

On 8 March 2019 the Egyptian musical group Do‘souqa performed in the Maq‘ad of Sultan Qaitbey to celebrate International Women’s day. Formed in 2015 and lead by the female vocalist Luka, Do‘souqa is among the trendiest independent bands in Cairo, playing music of a distinctive sound that is rooted in indie folk and merges many influences into hip and captivating songs delivered by Luka in one of the most impressive and bright female voices in the popular music of Egypt today. The spacious hall of the Sultan’s maq‘ad was filled up to its full capacity.
On the same day, an exhibition by the Austrian Cultural Forum was opened. It presents contributions of many remarkable Egyptian and Austrian women to arts, politics, culture and economy (open until 22 March.)

As usually, an arts and crafts fair accompanied the event, where traditional craftspeople presented and offered for sale their products.

The event organised by ARCHiNOS Architecture and the Sultan Foundation was sponsored by the European Union and the Drosos Foundation.
