In these strange days, when all public gatherings are suspended due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we cannot hold our usual events in the Maq‘ad of Sultan Qaitbey cultural hub in the “City od the Dead”. Art prevails, though.

On 21 April 2020, the oud virtuoso Mahmud al-Sawi al-Sayyid gave a live-streamed concert that many people listened to live and that can now be enjoyed on the MASQ Facebook page. The musician performed in the courtyard of the Sultan Qaitbey’s maq‘ad and in the  oratory of al-Gulshani recently restored by ARCHiNOS, where he was surrounded by pieces of sculpture from the “Daughters of the Nile” exhibition celebrating womanhood.
