On 6 July 2020, children of the Qaitbey area took part in a kite-flying contest, vying to present the most airworthy and also the most beautiful kite. Kite-flying has been a very popular pastime in Cairo for a long time, especially in low-income neighbourhoods, but when we organised the first contest in October 2018, we could not expect that it would become even more popular as a way to kill time in the times of coronavirus lockdown.
