No Snow in Cairo!

On 11 December2021, the streets of the Qaitbey neighbourhood in the “Desert of the Mamluks” filled with art and joy when the “Marble Crowd” group from Iceland gave a street performance titled “Trash and Treasure”. In the light-hearted spectacle, two Icelandic troll monsters in costumes made with the help of the local children out of leftover trash wandered the streets to the tune of local Zaffa music, searching in vain for snow in Cairo.

This was the second time the “Marble Crowd” performed at the Maq‘ad of Sultan Qaitbey (MASQ) cultural hub, this time supported by the Nordic Culture Fund.
