American University in Cairo: Downtown Campus Conservation

Work designed and implemented by ARCHiNOS included design of the adaptive re-use and remodeling of the monumental entrance staircase and a number of historic rooms in the AUC President’s palace, as well as repairs of the historic facades of the entire campus. The landmark buildings in the centre of Cairo are spectacular examples of the Mamluk Revival style that by the end of the 19th century was an expression of the nascent Egyptian nationalism.

Commissioned by the American University in Cairo.

Implemented in 2008-2009. Tahrir Square, Cairo.
