Gebel Barkal Site Museum, Sudan: Emergency Interventions

The site museum in Gebel Barkal in Sudanese Nubia displays finds from an extremely important location, which is part of a World Heritage site. Following a theft of some objects in 2013, the Prince Claus Fund – Cultural Emergency Response programme granted funds for immediate measures to improve the security of the collection in the museum. The work included producing a full inventory of objects by recording them in a database specially designed by ARCHiNOS, assistance in rearranging the storerooms, and security-related improvements to the building and the displays. ARCHiNOS carried out the project in close cooperation with the Sudanese National Corporation for Antiquities and Museums.
