'Panta Rhei' - Hungarian Contemporary Dance Performance at the MASQ

On Saturday 11 June 2022, the Hungarian dancing duet Dorottya and David Diko performed at the Maq‘ad of Sultan Qaitbey (MASQ) at an event organized in cooperation with the Liszt Institute: Hungarian Cultural Center in Cairo.

I Am One and also Two

The art exhibition opened at the MASQ on 28 May 2022 presented the works of ten artists that explored in different media and techniques various aspects of the interrelation between Egyptian and European cultures. The well-attended opening was accompanied by a concert by Sheerin ‘Abdo and a “Sultan’s Fair” of handcrafts.

Mediterranean Music and Egyptian Crafts

The Estabena band, the Mediterranean Sea Music Project that brings together musicians and tunes from around the Mediterranean, performed at the MASQ on 10 May 2022. The event was accompanied by another “Sultan’s Fair” promoting traditional crafts. A walking tour for special guests was carried out on the same day.

A Song Recital of Dalia Farid at the MASQ

On 26 March 2022, the audience at the Maq‘ad of Sultan Qaitbey could admire the extraordinary voice of the Egyptian singer Dalia Farid, who gave a recital of oriental-style songs, accompanied by the oud and drums.

Art Exhibition by Farid Fadel

On 19 – 31 March 2022, the renowned Egyptian artist Farid Fadel exhibited his paintings and drawings at the Maq‘ad of Sultan Qaitbey Cultural Hub (MASQ) in the “Desert of the Mamluks”. The exhibition of 40 works was entitled “Cairo, al-Mahrusa”, meaning Cairo the divinely protected.

#VisitQaitbey Photo Competition

In February-March and May 2022, an exhibition at the MASQ cultural hub presented the best photographs and video reels that resulted from guided tours organized by ARCHiNOS in the “Desert of the Mamluks” in Cairo. They were selected by a jury from more than 1,500 entries submitted for the competition. Public on-line voting determined the winners.
