Pioneers of Egyptian Modern Art Museum, Cairo

The palace of Aisha Fahmy, designed by an Italian architect in 1907, overlooks the Nile from its prestigious location on the elegant Zamalek Island. The Ministry of Culture, which owns the building, commissioned the design for its adaptation for a museum of Pioneers of Modern Egyptian Art. The design sensitively accommodates a collection of modern paintings and sculptures within the restored set of valuable historic interiors.

Commissioned by the Cultural Development Fund of the Ministry of Culture.

Design: 2007.

Opened to the public in 2016; only some elements of the original concept design were implemented.

Location: Zamalek, Cairo.
General designer: Agnieszka Dobrowolska
