Riffa Fort, Bahrain

Preliminary concept design for adaptation of the fort in Riffa’ in Bahrain for a permanent display of traditional Bahraini material culture, with facilities for visitors.

The fort was built in 1812 and for a time was a seat of Bahrain’s ruling family. It was restored in the 1990s. The guiding principle of ARCHiNOS concept design was minimal intervention into the historic architecture of the fort.

Commissioned by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities.
