Splendour of the Mamluks Permanent Exhibition, Cairo

The permanent exhibition was installed in the 14th-century palace of Prince Taz after the spectacular monument was conserved by the Egyptian Historic Cairo Project and turned into a cultural centre.

The work included general concept of the display, research, design of the exhibits, text writing, and graphic design. The exhibition was designed to harmonise with historic interiors, and not to interfere with the authentic historic material. The self-guided display includes an educational section presenting the Mamluk era and Prince Taz, and a collection of mediaeval objects from Historic Cairo.

Commissioned by the Historic Cairo Project of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, 2005.

Location: Saliba area in Historic Cairo.

    Concept and design: Agnieszka Dobrowolska
